Leroy Leslie Brubaker, 88, of Freeport, died Wednesday, March 23, 2011, at Manor Court.
Born April 9, 1922 in Lancaster Township he was the son of Charles S. and Vera (Messimore) Brubaker.
He married Eda V. Fluechtling January 1, 1947 and she preceded him in death on November 17, 1998.
He was a 1939 graduate of Dakota High School.
Leroy worked at Burgess Battery for 36 ½ years. He was a member of Burgess Battery 25 Year Club where he spent many years serving as Treasurer.
He was a member of Faith United Methodist Church since 1949.
Surviving are his daughter, Judith (Duane) Otte of Lena; his son, Myron (Cheryl) Brubaker of Manhattan, Kansas; 4 grandchildren, Brian (Sheila) Sliffy of McHenry, Jennifer Sliffy of Freeport, Matthew Brubaker of Topeka, Kansas and Geoffrey Brubaker of Manhattan, Kansas; his sister, Margaret Verlene Schoonhoven of Freeport; and his sister in-law, Eleanor Brubaker of Freeport.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; infant daughter, Nancy Lou, 1 brother, Kenneth; and 1 sister, Dorothy Sawyer.
Funeral services will be Monday, 10:30 a.m. at Faith United Methodist Church with Reverend Bruce Janes officiating. Burial will be in the Oakland Cemetery & Mausoleum.
Visitation will be Sunday 2 to 5 p.m. at Walker Mortuary.
In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established for Faith United Methodist Church.
