Obituary

Lillian D. Diddens, age 92 of Freeport, IL, passed away at home on Tuesday, July 25, 2017. She was born February 25, 1925; the daughter of the late Frederick and Dora (Penticoff) Suntken. She married LaVerne Diddens on November 2, 1946 at Main St. EUB Church in Freeport and he passed on December 22, 1984.
Lillian was a hard worker and farmed alongside her husband for over 40 years. She also worked at Ford Hopkins Drug Store, First National Bank, Lincoln Bag Company and the Stephenson Nursing Center. She was a member of the Silver Creek Reformed Church of German Valley, Springfield Bible Study Group, helped with The Connection and volunteered whenever she could. God was 1st in her life. She was also a member of the Stephenson County Home Extension and loved helping at the county fair.
In her younger years, she enjoyed dancing, bowling, gardening and roller skating. Lillian and LaVerne loved traveling together and took many trips. Some of her favorite times were attending the family reunions. She also liked playing cards and going out to eat. Lillian was a die-hard Cubs fan and she was delighted to watch the Cubs win the World Series last year. Most of all she loved her family and spending time with her kids and grandkids. She always had a smile and a joke. She loved talking to and helping people.
She is survived by her daughters, Linda Diddens of Jacksonville, IL and Luann (Brad) Davis; son, Lyle (Belinda) Diddens; grandchildren, Karli Davis of Evansville, IN, Austin Davis of Augusta, GA, Christy (Steve) Feller of Chicago, and Jennie Diddens of Dubuque, IA; great grandsons, Caleb & Logan; nieces Patsy Bolinsky of Lena, IL and Delores Fransen of Sun City, Arizona; and sister-in-law, Lucille Diddens. She also had several nieces and nephews whom she loved very much. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, LaVerne; sister, Margaret Knoll; cousin, Kathryn Viel; and brother-in-law, Virgil Diddens.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 12th at 11:00 a.m. at the Silver Creek Reformed Church in German Valley with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. Interment will take place at the Silver Creek Reformed Church Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established in Lillian's name for the Silver Creek Reformed Church. Condolences may be shared with her family at www.walkermortuary.com.
