Lily Mae Perez, 74, of Freeport, died Sunday, December 16, 2012, at Provena St. Joseph Nursing Center.
Born October 15, 1938 in San Antonio, Texas she was the daughter of Joe and Pauline (Gonzales) Saavedra. She married Masedonio "Roy" Perez June 22, 1957 and he died July 28, 2000.
An avid baker she was known for her pies and cookies. Her specialty was preparing Mexican food. But most of all she enjoyed her time with her grandchildren and her fourth generation great grandchild.
Surviving are her children, J.R. Perez of Freeport, Dorothy (Jim) Gabriel of Freeport, Terri (Jeff) Freeze of Forreston, Michael (Kathryn) Perez of Ballston Spa, New York, David (Rachel) Perez of Forreston, and Frank (Jennifer) Perez of Suwanee, Georgia; her siblings, Anna Burr of California, Henry (Carol) Saavedra of Lena, Josie Flores of Dallas, Texas, Irma Moll of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and Paul (Wendy) Saavedra of Lena; 11 grandchildren, Ashley, Christopher, Amanda, Alaina, Marissa, Nickolas, Madeline, Elise, Victoria, Carley, and Carlos; one great grandchild, Arianna.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her brothers, Tommie, Tony, and Joe; her sisters, Mary, Irene, and Dolores.
Her visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, December 21, 2012 at Walker Mortuary with Rosary recital at 7:30 p.m.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, December 22, 2012 at St. Wendelin Catholic Church in Shannon.
Immediately following the funeral service there will be a luncheon served at the church.
When the lunch is done there will be a procession to the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Freeport where burial will take place.
Because of her love for Provena Adult Day Care Center a memorial fund has been established in her name for the Center.
