Mom

Mom grew up on a farm just outside of Freeport.  She became a nurse in 1961 working at Freeport hospital until her retirement 34 years later.

Shortly after becoming a nurse, a gentleman by the name of Charlie Schuler contacted Linda and offered to give her dance lessons.  They danced for the next 50+ years.

They are together again, dancing today.

After being married in December of 1961, Mom and Dad had 4 children, Susan, Stacey, Sarah and Bill.

They welcomed 4 additions via marriage Rick, Bob, Mike and Lori.

From personal experience, Mom treated each of us as if we were her own children.

Mom and Dad always made the effort to be with their Grandchildren, Bradley, Kyle, Owen and Mary.  It might have been a sporting event, tractor day, county fair, zoo, museum or just out for Ice Cream.  They always said yes.

Mom always had a kind word to say to everyone.  She went out of her way to take care of family and friends.  Her generosity had no limits.

After retiring, Mom and Dad spent most of their summer at Rock Lake in Lake Mills WI and couple months each winter in Florida with Susan and her family.  Each December they would treat their children and grandchildren to a few nights at a water park in Lake Geneva.

This family time brought great joy to both Mom and Dad.  Although when I spun the boat around and Mom was soaked with water, she might not have called me her favorite……

September of last year, she was blessed with Franklin Michael, her first great grandchild.  Every time Mom and Franklin were together, it put a smile on her face from ear to ear.

Mom always looked forward to Fridays with her daughters.  Shopping at garage sales, running errands along with lunch at Culvers or Union Dairy was the highlight of Mom, Susan, Stacey and Sarah's week.

The belly laughing was nonstop due to their antics and great stories.

Bill had a special relationship with his Mom.  Here is part of a poem recently wrote by Bill.

My Heart is crying as I sit here thinking about all the things you taught me.  Gardening, cooking, cleaning, how to read and understand, faith, love of nature, love of dogs.  But now it is time for us to let you go so you can be with Dad again.

You will be missed.
