Obituary

Freeport – Lois Ruby (Boeke) Pointer, 90 of Freeport passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 10, 2022 at Parkview Home with family at her side.  She was born on August 13, 1931 in Freeport to the late Raymond and Helen (Tamling) Brinkmeier. She graduated from Freeport High School in 1948. She married her first husband William Boeke Sr on November 24, 1949 in Freeport.  He died in 1994.  She married her second husband, Gerald Pointer on August 15, 1996 in Chicago. He died in 2011.

She belonged to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints of Freeport.  She was an avid reader, loved bible studies, playing cards and genealogy research. Family was the most important Part of her life. She was especially happy when there were little ones around. Her face would light up when they would visit. She loved hugs from anyone! At Parkview she was known as Loiy and for her smiling face. She loved her sister Lida and she was the only person mom recognized by name for some time due to dementia.

She is survived by her children Marilyn (Jim) Thoren of Orangeville; William (Sue Conkling) Boeke Jr. of Freeport; Scott (Cheryl) Boeke of Scioto Mills, IL; Bradley (Angela Denzler) Boeke of Perry, OH; Neal (Lisa) Boeke of Juda, WI; Norm (Gwen) Boeke of Janesville, WI; Son-in-law, Roger Koch of Dakota; Sister, Lida Lohr of Freeport. As well as many nieces and nephews.

Her legacy also includes grandchildren  Jennifer (Thoren) Mark Jansen, Dustin (Michele) Thoren, Megan (Thoren) Jonathon Barrett, Lonny (Jennifer) Boeke, Kelli (Boeke) Kevin Wolff, Rachel (Aurand) Jon Gleason, Cary (Koch) Ron DeShazo, Eric Koch, Brandi (Boeke) Scheider, Tori (Boeke) Josh Rock, Sarah Boeke, Amber (Boeke) Kyle Tews, Andy (Hillary) Boeke, Heather (Boeke) Jim  Reilly, Elizabeth (Boeke) Joe Stuart, John Boeke, Jacob Boeke.

Great grandchildren are Jack Jansen, Maddy and Ava Thoren, Carter Barrett, Ashton and Chandler Boeke, Iris and Isaac Wolff, Audrey DeShazo, Matthew Koch and Della Schreck, Brady and Lane Scheider, Vera, Dorthy, and Liza Tews, Braxton, Kinzley, and Barrett Boeke,  and William Reilly.

Great great granddaughter Ruby DeShazo.

She is preceded in death by her parents, both husbands and her daughter Kathleen Koch, brother Merle Brinkmeier, sister in law Fern Brinkmeier, and brother in law Delbert Lohr.

Many thanks to the staff at Parkview and Dr. Schleich for taking such good care of our mother.

Services will be Saturday, March 19 th with a visitation beginning at 10am at Walker Mortuary and a service will immediately follow at 12pm.  Her final resting place will be at Chapel Hill next to her first husband, William Boeke Sr.
