Freeport – Lois H.W. Ruby, 85 of Freeport passed away at Walnut Acres (formerly Stephenson Nursing Center) on March 14, 2022.  She was born on June 16, 1936 in Wooster, OH to the late Oliver and Frances (Hosack) Wilder. She married Eric Speer Ruby Jr in 1955 and together they raised a family.  He died in 2011.

She was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church of Freeport as well as the Red Hatter Society.  She loved to quilt and was an avid reader.

She is survived by her daughters, Karen L. (George) Beck of Lena; Carol A. (Randall) Strader of Ohio; Her son, Thomas S. Ruby of Oklahoma and her sister Beth Brewer of Kansas.  Her legacy also includes 8 grandchildren Joshua Beck, Jason Beck, Michael Beck, Edward Beck, John Beck, Beverly Loepp, Caleb Ruby and Ethan Ruby.  Her great grandchildren are Wyatt, Elijah, Emma, Samantha, John, Anita, Skye, Zavion and Allister.

Cremation rites were accorded.  There will be a memorial service at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church on Saturday, March 19 ^th at 1:00pm.  Condolences can be left for the family at www.walkermortuary.com .
