Obituary
Lois E. Walz , age 97 of Freeport, IL, passed away Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at the Stephenson Nursing Center in Freeport. She was born on May 12, 1921 in Freeport; the daughter of the late Oscar and Eleanor (Kochsmeier) Walz. She was a 1939 graduate of Freeport High School.
Lois had worked at the public library as a children's librarian. She then went on to work dispatch for ComEd for 30 years. She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Freeport. She was also a member of the Humane Society. Lois loved animals, especially cats. She also enjoyed working outdoors on her lawn and collecting dolls and coins.
Lois is survived by her great nephew, Jonathan Rutter; and great niece, Sarah Rutter. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Rachel Rutter; and nephew, Jeffrey Rutter.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 21 st at 12:00 p.m. at Walker Mortuary in Freeport with a visitation before the service beginning at 11:00 a.m. Interment will take place at Oakland Cemetery in Freeport. A memorial fund has been established for Friends Forever Humane Society and St. John's United Church of Christ.Services
