Loran "Corky" Germain, 65, of Pecatonica, died Saturday, March 6, 2010 at his home after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born January 28, 1945 in Rural Rock City he was the son of Marvin and Zora (Anderson) Germain. He married Nancy Black on June 29, 1964 in Dakota.
Corky was a devoted husband and father.
He farmed the Rock City area his whole life. He also worked for TR Machine in Davis for 15 years.
His memberships included Dakota Community Presbyterian Church, Stephenson County Antique Engine Club for 40 years, Rock City Fire Department and Tri- District Ambulance for 30 plus years.
He enjoyed his animals, working on John Deere tractors, and traveling with his wife.
Surviving is his wife, Nancy of Pecatonica; 1 daughter, Angela (Bret) Olson of Freeport; 1 son, Kenneth Germain of Freeport; 1 sister, Francis Jansen of Ridott; his brother in-law, Stewart (Barbara) Black of Rockford.
He was preceded in death by his father and his beloved dog, Leta
Visitation will be Tuesday 4 to 7:30 p.m. at the Daughenbaugh Funeral Home, 115 S. West Street, Dakota, IL 61018.
Funeral service will be Wednesday, 2 p.m. at the Daughenbaugh Funeral Home in Dakota. Following the service cremation rites will be accorded.
A memorial has been established in his name.
