Obituary

Freeport — Lorraine M. Frautschy, age 95, passed away on Friday, May 23, 2025, at FHN Memorial Hospital in Freeport, IL. She was born on August 30, 1929, in Freeport; daughter of Alfred and Mabel [Krusey] Stukenberg. Lorraine spent her childhood on the family farm near Florence Station, and graduated from Freeport High School.

She married her best friend, Marshall Frautschy, on June 18, 1950. He passed on August 10, 2009. Lorraine had many interests in life, including Embury Church, volunteering, cross stitching, knitting, bridge, dominos, and even a little golf. Family was her top priority; so proud of her grandchildren's life journeys. She always had a smile, was smartly dressed, embodied grace, and had a special, amazing internal strength. Lorraine handled life's difficulties with calm dignity, and lived by the saying "Never give up." She had an exceptionally kind heart, always thinking of, and doing things for others before herself, along with loving to surprise people with her kindness.

She is survived by one son, Thomas [Jeanie] Frautschy of College Grove, TN; three granddaughters, Dawn [Fletcher] Garner of Chapel Hill, NC, Brandy [Tony] Estness of Fort Mill, SC, Dr. Brooke Frautschy of Franklin, TN; two great grandsons, Jackson Estness, Maxwell Garner; two great granddaughters, Jordan Estness, Adaline Garner; sister-in-law Caryl Guffey of Freeport; as well as many nieces and nephews; two close friends, Donna Thruman and Sharon Koertner, both of Freeport.

Lorraine was preceded in death by her husband, Marshall; her son, Michael; three sisters, Ethel Haijenga, Jean Witte, and Leona Block; granddaughter, Jessica; three brothers-in-law, Harold Witte, Carl Block, and Corney Haijenga.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 19th, 2025 from 2-4pm, at Parkview Home in the community room, 1234 S. Park Blvd, Freeport, IL.
