Freeport: Louise G. Meier, 85, formerly of Ridott died Thursday July 9, 2009 at the Hawthorne Inn at Liberty Village, Freeport. Born July 14 1923 in Freeport she was the daughter of Christopher C. and Agnes (Schuur) Heerkes. On July 26, 1941 she married Warren L. "Jiggs" Meier in Dakota, he preceded her in death September 28, 1991. Louise was a member of the Freeport Eagles Club.
Surviving are her two daughters, Karen (Dennis) Wells of Dakota and Nancy (Rodney) Fehr of Winnebago; Two sons, Jim (Judy) Meier of Winnebago and Dennis (Sharon) Meier of Ridott; 10 grandchildren, Shane Meier, Bret (Amy) Meier, Trace (Sheri) Fehr, Bryan (Krista) Meier, Michelle Wells (Kenny) Borgmann, Justin Meier, Stacy Meier (Eric) Meinert, Nicole Fehr (Cody) Cuplin, Stephanie Meier (John) Burmingham, Brandon (Kiley) Wells; 17 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one brother, Nick Heerkes.
Funeral service will be held 10:00am Monday July 13, 2009 at Indian Grove Country Church with Reverend Peter McClanathan officiating. Burial will be in Davis Cemetery, Davis, IL. Visitation will be Sunday from 3:00pm until 6:00 pm at Daughenbaugh Funeral Home, Dakota, IL. A memorial has been established in her name.
