Lucille L. Hill, 80, of Freeport, died Monday, November 9, 2009, at Lena Living Center in Lena.
Born July 11, 1929 in Freeport she was the daughter of Enno and Hilda (Albright) Remmers. She married Charles E. "Chuck" Hill November 24, 1948 in her parent's country home.
Lucille graduated from Dakota high School in 1947. She farmed with her husband for over 30 years. She worked at Freeport Memorial Hospital as a Switch Board Operator for 20 years. Lucille was employee of the month in April of 1990 and September of 1993. She was the employee of the year for 1993.
She enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking, fishing, and playing hand held games. She especially enjoyed time with her family.
Lucille was known for her beautiful smile, friendly voice, and contagious laugh.
Surviving is her husband and best friend for almost 61 years, Charles of Freeport; 4 children, Dennis (Jean) Hill of Kent, Pat (Steve) Croffoot of Freeport, Steve (Merri) Hill of Monticello, WI, and Pam (Jeff) Drake of rural Freeport; and her foster daughter, Bonnie Saxby; 9 grandchildren, Scott (Jean) Hill, Tracey Hill, A.J. (Sara) Croffoot, Matt Croffoot, Suzie (Matt) Siegenthaler, Nathan Hill, Devin Hill, Cody Drake, and Shayna Drake; 6 great grandchildren, Wyatt, Sam, Cierra, Alexa, Trent, and Jackson; 1 brother, Don (Joyce) Remmers of Machesney Park.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral service will be Friday 10 a.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church with Reverend Julie Bunt officiating. Burial will be in the Oakland Cemetery & Mausoleum.
Visitation will be Thursday 5 to 7 p.m. at Walker Mortuary.
In lieu of flowers memorials have been established for the Lena Living Center and FHN Memorial Hospice.
