Luther Marvil Stortroen, 79, of Freeport, died Sunday April 5, 2015, at Manor Court in Freeport. Born September 5, 1935 in Mahnomen, Minnesota he was the son of Pastor Albert and Corie (Jameson) Stortroen. He married Virginia Lindberg in 1963 and she died April 5, 1989. Luther was a graduate of St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving in Panama from 1957 to 1960. His memberships included Prince of Peace Lutheran Church and Fraternal Order of Eagles. Luther worked for Insurance Services Office in Minneapolis, Minnesota from 1961 to 1997. Surviving is his life partner of 25 years, Susan Solheim of Freeport; his children, Brett (Iris) Stortroen of Davie, Florida and Jeff (Kim) Stortroen of Burnsville, Minnesota; his sister, Valeria Daehlin of Northfield, Minnesota; two grandchildren, Benjamin and Sirianna Stortroen of Burnsville, Minnesota. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, his brother, James and his sister, Solveig Rieck. Cremation rites have been accorded. Memorial services will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday, April 9, 2015 at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church. A memorial has been established for Prince of Peace Lutheran Church.
