Freeport

Lydia Leona Craig 93, of Freeport, died Monday, May 9, 2016, at Presence St. Joseph Nursing Center.

Born February 3, 1923 in Avon, South Dakota she was the daughter of Phillip and Alma (Gentele) Schmoll. She married LeRoy Heiko Janssen October 1, 1942 and he died February 19, 1977. She married Wayne E. Craig August 18, 1983 and he died January 12, 2016.

Lydia worked at Newell, and then in food service with Freeport School District 145 until her retirement.

Lydia's memberships included First Church of the Nazarene and for over 50 years Ladies of the Moose.

Lydia enjoyed bowling, line dancing, euchre, and spending Monday mornings at RSVP quilting.

Surviving are her children, Gary Lee (Judith) Janssen of Freeport, Nancy Carol (Richard) Geiser of Freeport, Kelly (William) Monigold of Freeport, Wendy Monigold and Beth Bechtolt both of Monroe, Wisconsin, David (Lisa) Craig of Stockton; six grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; her sisters, Lanora.

(Bill) Barker of Roseburg, Oregon and Vi Bushman of Dixon; her brothers, Raymond Schmoll of Rockton and Arnold Schmoll of Shannon.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; daughter, Debra Lyn (Donny) Fust; sisters, Elizabeth Oorlog and Esther Simptson; and her brothers, Jacob and Leonard Schmoll.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, May 14, 2016 at Walker Mortuary. Burial will be in the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.

There will be a visitation 10 a.m. until time of service at the Walker Mortuary on Saturday.

A memorial has been established for the First Church of the Nazarene.
