Obituary

Freeport-Lydia M. Parker Porter, 89, of Freeport, died Tuesday, March 29, 2005, at her home with her family.
Born June 15, 1915 in Kent Township, Stephenson County she was the daughter of William and Emma (Inman) Niemeier. She married Earl "Bud" Parker on May 11, 1941 in Sturdevant, Wisconsin and he passed away February 21, 1972. She married Robert Dale Porter October 8, 1977.
Lydia worked in the Savanna High School Cafeteria for 12 years. She really enjoyed her job and loved the kids she worked with.
Lydia loved her family and always enjoyed the time she spent with them. She was always there for her family with a smile and encouragement. Through all of her many health problems she trusted the Lord and was a wonderful example to all who knew and loved her.
She was a member of Faith United Methodist Church.
Surviving is her husband, Dale of Freeport; daughter, Vergie (Walter) Humy of Roscoe; step sons, Bill Porter of FL, John Porter of TX, Dave (Cathy) Porter of WI; grandchildren, Deb (Randy) Otto of Orangeville, Michael (Audra) Humy of Rockford; step grandchildren, Scott Porter, Casey Porter, and Bryce Porter; great grandchildren, Will, Ben, Amanda, and Phillip Otto, Hannah, Nathan, and Audrey Humy; several nieces and nephews..
She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband; brothers. John, Charlie, Leo, Bill, and Ed Niemeier; 1 sister, Irene Rieland; niece Donna Lawver; nephew, Jim Niemeier.
The family wishes to thank Lydia's neighbor and special friend, Joyce Peters who was always there to help Dale and Lydia.
Special thanks also to Dr. Parks and Katie for the wonderful care they gave Lydia.
We also thank Pastor Doug Bowden and Pastor Bruce Janes for faithfully visiting and calling on Dale and Lydia.
Funeral service will be Thursday 11 a.m. at Faith United Methodist Church in Freeport with Reverend Douglas Bowden officiating. Burial will be at the Savanna Township Cemetery in Savanna.
Visitation will be Thursday 9:30 a.m. until time of service at the church.
