Lyle C. Holden, age 82 of Freeport, IL, passed away at home on Monday, May 21, 2018. He was born on August 20, 1935; the son of the late Forest Holden and Marion (Cooper) Shain. He attended Freeport Schools. Lyle married Carol Klinke on January 16, 1954.

He attended the First Church of the Nazarene in Freeport and was a member of the Eagles Club. Lyle worked for Modern Plating Co. for 47 years. After retiring, he also worked for J.H. Halbin & Sons. He loved hunting and fishing, especially ice fishing. Lyle was an avid Chicago Bears fan. He also enjoyed polishing brass and copper antiques in his garage.

He is survived by his wife Carol Holden of Freeport; son, Tim (Lori) Holden of Freeport; daughter, Pam (John) Witte of Freeport; grandchildren, Tiffany Wilberding, Joshua Holden, Lindsay Koning, Bethany Dickman, Sherrie Plowman, Jason Witte, and Michael Witte; 11 great grandchildren; brothers, Denny Holden and Earl (Georgette) Holden; and sister, Fern Veer and Rita (Willard) Shenberger. He was preceded in death by his parents; sons, Lyle Jr. and Terry; 3 brothers; and 2 sisters.
