Lynden H. Schadewaldt, 65, of Dakota, recently moved to Baraboo, WI, died early Tues., Nov. 13, at UW Madison Hospital, from a massive stroke.
He was born October 17, 1942, at Freeport Deaconess Hospital, the son of Henry G. and Ilo (Stamm) Schadewaldt.
Lynden was a 1960 graduate of Dakota High School and received his associate degree from Highland Community College.
He married Susan Schilling of Orangeville, on July 27, 1968. He had one daughter, Kristin (James) Terry, of Baraboo, WI.
He was employed as a computer operator by Burgess Battery, Western States, and Swiss Colony, before purchasing his own water softening business, L & S Soft Water, of Dakota.
Lynden was a member of the Dakota United Methodist Church. He enjoyed fishing, camping, playing cards, telling jokes, talking to people wherever he went, and most of all spending time with his family. He was deeply tied to the home farm and looked forward to helping with fieldwork. His grand-daughter, Grace, was the apple of his eye.
Lynden lived in Dakota all of his life, until two weeks ago. He and his wife built a new home in Baraboo, to be near his daughter and grand-daughter.
He is survived by his wife, Susan, of Baraboo; daughter Kristin, (James) Terry, Baraboo,
grand-daughter, Grace, Baraboo, mother, Ilo Schadewaldt, Clinton, IA, sister Joan, (John) Boyd, Dakota, brother, Arnold (Shirley) Schadewaldt, Dakota, sister, Judy, (Jerome) Lighthart, Wheaton, IL, sister Cynthia, (Dorance) Calhoon, Clinton, IA, aunt, Leona Wolf, Monroe, numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
Lynden was preceeded in death by his father, Henry, in 1971, and nephew Geoff Boyd in 1995.
Visitation will be at the Dakota United Methodist Church from 4 - 7 p.m.,
Friday, November 16. There will be visitation from 9:30-10:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 17. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., followed by a luncheon at the church from 11:30-1:00. Graveside services will be held in Baraboo, WI, at 3:30 p.m., at Walnut Hill Cemetery, followed by a dinner at Park Plaza, Baraboo, from 4:30-7:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, there will be a memorial.
