Lena: Mabel L. Busekros, 92 of Lena died Wednesday January 31, 2007 at the Lena Living Center. She was born July 23, 1914 in Erin Township to Emil and Lydia (Amendt) Hummermeier who were also born in Erin Township. Mabel graduated from Lena High School in1931 and Browns Business College. She married Carl Busekros on August 3, 1936. Being a housewife and clerical aide for School District 145 were among the vocations she chose. Mabel was a lifelong active member of Salem United Church of Christ. She was also an involved member of the Salem Women's Fellowship and Harlem Home Extension Unit. Volunteering at FHN Memorial Hospital was a fulfilling pastime and also quilting with RSVP. Mabel is survived by her son, Ralph (Audrey) Busekros of Freeport; her daughter Janet (Roger) Zimmerman of Madison: grandchildren, Craig (Lori) Zimmerman of Oak Creek, WI and Janelle (Trent) Heinrich of Muskego, WI: great grandchildren Ryan Zimmerman, Troy Zimmerman, and Avery Heinrich; step grandchildren, Jeff Platten of Scottsdale, AZ, Bill Platten of Atlanta, GA, and Lynn Platten of Alliance, OH and step great grandchild Lauren Platten. She was preceded in death by her husband Carl, on September 9, 1982, her parents, her brother Karl, and sister, Luella. Cremation rites were accorded. A memorial service will be held 3:00 p.m. Sunday February 11, 2007 at the Salem United Church of Christ, Lena, with the Reverend Randal Nicholas officiating. There will be a memorial gathering Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that memorials be made to the Lena Living Center Therapy Department, Lena Living Center Activity Department or the Leonard Ferguson Cancer Center.
