Obituary

Mamie L. Tielkemeier
Mamie Louise Tielkemeier went home to be with the Lord and passed peacefully at Medina Nursing Center in Durand on June 7, 2011.
She was born on April 4, 1929, the daughter of Everett & Margaret (Christen) VanOsdol in Pecatonica, where she lived her entire life until she went to live at Medina. She married Alfred Tielkemeier on April 1, 1954.
Mamie graduated from Pecatonica High School and began working at Brownie's Restaurant. She owned Al & Mamie's Coffee Shop in Pecatonica. People came from all over to share a cup of coffee and a good joke with her. Mamie was well known for her cooking and could whip up a meal for a crowd. She especially loved cooking for her family. Mamie also worked at Topway Foods and the Crooked River Café in Pecatonica. She retired from Economy Fire & Casualty in Freeport. Mamie will forever be remembered for her incredible sense of humor and her quick wit. One of her favorite expressions was "I might as well say it as think it".
Survivors include her daughters Juanita (Greg) Evans of Dodgeville, WI and Gayle (Harlan) Boos of Rock City.
Mamie had 5 grandchildren, Janalyn Niemeier of Dodgeville, WI, Bradley (Lisa) Evans of Oregon, WI, Blake (Ashli Kemp) Evans of Mineral Point, WI, Sarah Boos Chriss of Dakota, IL, and Noah Gabriel Boos. She also had 9 great-grandchildren, Jennica, Reese, Breyden, Emma, Jenna, McKenna, Presli, Savannah, and Caden.
In addition, surviving is one sister, Ann (John) Frankenberg of Ocala, FL and two nieces, Susan and Linda. Also, a step-son Darrell Tielkemeier.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Al, and grandson, Noah Gabriel Boos.
The family wishes to thank all of the angels at Medina, as well as Freeport Hospice, for the special care they gave.
