Marcella M. Heitz, 93, of Freeport died Tuesday, November 18, 2014 at Manor Court of Liberty Village in Freeport. Born March 23, 1921 in Ravinia, SD she was the daughter of John and Kate (Varilek) Petrik. On November 23, 1946 she and Robert C. Heitz were united in marriage, Robert preceded her in death in 2004. She worked for Freeport Senior High School for 23 years in the cafeteria and helped her husband farm for over 20 years. Marcella was a member of Faith United Methodist Church in Freeport. Surviving are two sons, Regan C. (Deborah) Heitz of Austin, TX, Randy C. (Cherie) Heitz of Freeport; six grandchildren Corey (Ericka) Heitz, Andrew Heitz, Brenden Heitz, Ashton Heitz, Erin (Jeremy) Crase, Mark (Kim) Heitz; three great grandchildren Nakiah (Krystal Phillips) Crase Haley Crase and Natalie Heitz. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, five sisters and three brother. Visitation will be Monday November 24, 2014 from 10-11 a.m. at Walker Mortuary. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Walker Mortuary with Reverend Bruce Janes officiating. Burial will be at the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Freeport. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in her name for FHN Hospice.
