Marcella "Marcy" Joyce Wessels, age 71 of German Valley, IL, passed away at home on Saturday, October 1, 2022. She was born July 7, 1951 in Freeport, IL; the daughter of the late Robert and Margorie (Fricke) Wessels. She graduated from Forreston High School with the class of 1969. She went on to attend Highland Community College in Freeport and Rockford College in Rockford, IL.

Marcy worked at many Insurance Companies in the area, ending her career at MetLife in Freeport. Marcy was involved in many things. She loved flowers, plants, and animals. She was a master gardener and raised alpaca for almost 10 years. Marcy enjoyed working at the German Valley Food Pantry and helping with the German Valley Museum.

She loved to entertain friends and family. Marcy also enjoyed traveling, theater and music. She was very proud of being an American and of her German Heritage. She loved her Lord Jesus Christ and showed it in the way she lived.

She is survived by her brother, Miles Wessels of German Valley; uncle, Karl Fricke of IA; and many cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, uncles, and aunts.

The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 11, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at the Silver Creek Reformed Church in German Valley. There will be a visitation before the service beginning at 10:00 a.m. Interment will take place at the church cemetery. A memorial fund has been established in her name.
