Freeport: Marcella J. (Sally) Reade, 85, died Friday October 12 at FHN Memorial Hospital, Freeport. Born October 19, 1921 in Rural Rock City, IL. She was the daughter of Oscar and Elsie (Keller) Zimmerman. On April 3, 1943 she married Eugene Strong and he preceded her in death on October 27, 1976. She then married George Reade on April 21, 1979 and he died on December 4, 1992. Marcella was a graduate of Dakota High School Class of 1939 and then worked for Micro Switch retiring May 30th 1979 after 37 years of service. Marcella was a former member of the Garden Club in Fairfield Bay, Ark. she was an avid reader, and loved to travel, do crafts, and paint. Surviving are her brother, Russell (Edna) Zimmerman of Davis; Sister, Berniece Slamp of Davis; Brother-In-Law, Donald (Noreen) Reade of Mich; Several nieces and nephews, great, and great great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her Parents, two husbands, one sister and her step mother, Ida Toelke and Brother -In- Law, Kenneth Slamp. Funeral service will be held 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Daughenbaugh Funeral home and Cremation Services, Dakota, IL. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Freeport. Visitation will be Tuesday from 12 noon until the time of service at the Daughenbaugh Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established for The Friends Forever Humane Society.
