Margaret L. Gerber, 88, of Freeport died Friday, November 16, 2012 at Provena St. Joseph Center in Freeport. Born August 7, 1924 in McConnell she was the daughter of O.Frank and Nora (Kluck) Leiby. Margaret was a graduate of Orangeville High School. On September 20, 1952 she and Herman O. Gerber were united in marriage, he preceded her in death in October of 2011. For many years she worked for Furst McNess and then for Deaconess Memorial Hospital as a patient sitter. She was a member of Ridott Community Church, enjoyed going on Sager Tours and was an avid fair goer. Surviving are two daughters Marlene (LaVerne) (Foulker) Barker of Red Oak, Marcene (Bob) Meeks of Rock City; six grandchildren Steve (Julie) Foulker, Tim (Kathy) Foulker, Donnie (Holly) Foulker, Marcette (Henry) Meeks Happ, Michelle (Brian) Meeks Brightman, Michael Meeks; nine great grandchildren Brandon Vesel, Kelsy and Kenzie Foulker, Sydney and Blane Foulker, Meghan, Lindsay and Jordan Happ, and Emma Brightman; two sisters Anna Mae Kaderly of Lena, Ellen Sager of Freeport; sister-in-law Rosemary (Gilbert) Enke of Janesville, WI. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, sister Lola Adams, three brothers Paul, Oney and Danny Leiby, and granddaughter Kathy Ann Meeks.
Visitation will be 10am until the time of service Tuesday, November 20th at Walker Mortuary. Funeral service will be 11 am Tuesday at Walker Mortuary with Reverend Mark Vlad of Ridott Community Church officiating. Burial will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens Freeport. A memorial has been established in her name.
