Freeport: Margaret I."Irma" McLain 95, of Freeport, died Thursday January 11, 2007 at FHN Memorial Hospital, Freeport. Born October 26, 1911 in Savanna, IL she was the daughter of Thomas and Carrie (Sanburn) Noble. On November 28, 1930 she married Myron M. McLain at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa and he preceded her in death in March of 1990. Margaret was a member of Second Presbyterian Church and their first generation group, the Freeport Memorial Auxiliary with over 6,000 hours of volunteer service, Stephenson County Home Extension and served as an Election Judge for Stephenson County for over 20 years. She assisted her husband in operating Mac's Machine Shop in Freeport for over 50 years. Surviving are one daughter, Janet (Norman) Kaiser of Freeport, one son, Myron D. (Nancy) McLain of Owensboro, Kentucky, three grandchildren, Rebecca (David) Hanson of Freeport, Sally Mullen of Lena and Paul McLain of Seattle, Wash. Two step grandchildren, John (Val) Hanson of Congerville, IL and Heather Hanson of Racine, WI, Seven great grandchildren, Jeremy Middlesteadt, James, Daniel and Ethan Mullen, Caleb and Mikayla Hanson, all of Freeport and Anja Mc Lain of Seattle, Wash., two step great grandchildren and one great great grandson, numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 1 brother, 4 sisters and 1 grandchild. Funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Walker Mortuary with the Reverend Don Swanson officiating. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Freeport. Visitation will be Monday from 4-7 p.m. at the Mortuary. A memorial has been established in her name.
