Margaret R. Plum, 91, of Freeport passed away Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at the home of her son surrounded by family. Born September 5, 1923 in Freeport she was the daughter of William and Catherine (Huber) Rinderman. At the age of six Margaret spent the next ten years at St. Vincent Orphanage in Freeport. She was a veteran of the United States Navy. On February 9, 1948 she and Robert A. Plum were united in marriage in Freeport. Together they raised seven children. Margaret worked two years at Heine Plastics and retired from Micro Switch after 15 years. She was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, the prayer tree and the Stephenson County Home Extension. Margaret loved to go fishing. She also enjoyed walking any chance she could get. Time spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren was a joy. Surviving are her children Robert P. "Smokey" (Cindy) Plum, Gene W. (Jeanne) Plum of Ridott, Patricia A. (Denny) Dietmeier of Ridott, Deborah L. (Earl) Moote of Madison, WI, John A. Plum, Marsha M. Plum,and Michael L. Plum all of Freeport; 15 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; brother Richard Stichter of Milwaukee; sister Anna Mae Endress of Freeport. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, two brothers Joseph Rinderman and Alfred Stichter, sister Evelyn Faulkner and grandson Joshua Recoy. Rosary service will be Thursday, February 12, 2015 starting at 4 p.m. followed by visitation until 7 p.m. at Walker Mortuary. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 am Friday at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic with Father Kenneth Anderson officiating. Burial will be at the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Freeport. A memorial has been established in her name for St. Thomas Aquinas Church.
