Marguerite A. Keith, 90, of Freeport, died Thursday, September 3, 2015, at FHN Memorial Hospital.
Born May 22, 1925 in Rock Grove she was the daughter of Charles and Genevieve (Bartholomew) Stuckey. She married Walter O. Keith April 13, 1946 and he preceded her in death.
Marguerite worked for J.C. Penny for 20 years retiring in 1987.
Her memberships included Zion Church, VFW Axillary, Women of the Moose, YMCA, and R.S.V.P.
She was a longtime volunteer for the Stephenson County Sherriff, also serving as a deputy.
She was an avid swimmer for over 40 years starting her day 5 a.m. at the YMCA for a swim
Surviving are her sons, Dennis W. Keith and David J. (Carol) Keith both of Freeport; her sister, Karen (Edward) Pehl of Davis; her grandchildren, Travis (Jen) Keith and Ashli (Steve) Asche; her great grandchildren, Ellie, Raegan, and Carver.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; 1 brother; and 2 sisters.
Funeral service and burial will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, September 8, 2015 at the Chapel of Peace in the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
There will be no visitation.
A memorial has been established for Zion Church.
