Maria Jacobs, age 85 of Freeport, IL passed away at home on Saturday, November 25, 2017. She was born May 20, 1932 in Hilders, Germany; the daughter of the late Ludwig and Aloisia (Banni) Neubauer. She married Richard Jacobs on July 4, 1959.

Maria had worked at Newell for 25 years, retiring in 1997. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church of Freeport. She enjoyed gardening, quilting, crocheting, and cooking. She had a love for animals. Above all else, she loved her family which was most important to her.

She is survived by her husband, Richard of Freeport; sons, Michael (Kimberly) Jacobs of Lancaster, CA and Carl (Shelly) Pahnke of Freeport; daughter, Doris (Tom) Schubert of Baileyville, IL; grandchildren, Christopher, Trevor, Kolin, Sadie, Jonathan, Jesse, Christopher, and Stephanie; and nephews, Horst and Jurgen Neubauer. She was preceded in death by her parents; step-mother, Maria; brothers, Ludwig and Walter; and sister, Freida.
