Freeport: Marian L. Clark, 86, of Freeport, died Tuesday October 12, 2004 at FHN Memorial Hospital, Freeport. She was born July 3, 1918 in Waterloo, Iowa the daughter of John and Gertrude (Stoner) Cunningham. She married George O. Beard August 22, 1940 he died in 1963. She then married Eugene Clark in 1965 and he also preceded her in death. She graduated from Polo High School in 1936 and then attended Coppins Business College in Dixon. Afterward she worked for various offices in the Freeport area, retiring as a legal secretary for Malcolm McPherson law office in 1981. She was a very active member of Van Brocklyn United Methodist Church. Surviving are her two sons, Larry (Jill) Beard of Ridott, Jerry (Linda) Beard of Monticello, FL, seven grandchildren, Pennie (Richard) Holeton of Pecatonica, Richie Heitz of San Diego Cal, Tara Flannery and Jeff (Maria) Williams both of Australia, Jamie (Tony) Fuchs, of Monticello, WI, Joseph Beard of Ridott, Jessica Beard of Monticello, FL and five great grandchildren. Two brothers, John Jr. (Annabelle) Cunningham of Polo, Robert (Phyllis) Cunningham of Mt. Morris, four sisters, Ruth Maxey of Ft. Collins, CO., Pauline Jecklin of Polo, Doris Slankard of Tucson, AZ and Lora Jean Lien of Wisconsin Rapids, WI. and many nieces and nephews. Her parents, both husbands, one daughter and one brother, preceded her in death. Funeral service will be 11:00 am Friday at Walker Mortuary with the Reverend Rodney Caldwell of the Van Brocklyn United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Freeport. Visitation will be Thursday from 4-7 pm at the Walker Mortuary.
