Marian Nott passed away Saturday December 19th, 2009 at the Stephenson Nursing Center. Born August 18th, 1918 Marian Lorraine (Bear) Nott was the daughter of Edward and Bessie (Little) Bear. She grew up in the Dakota-Cedarville area before marring Roy D. Nott August 18th 1939 in Dubuque, IA. They enjoyed 55 years of marriage, residing primarily in Rock City. Marian was a graduate of Dakota High School. She worked for many years at post offices in Rockford, and Rock City. Marian was a wonderful cook, specializing in "Chocolate Desserts" and "Pies". Her friends and family gratefully enjoyed her talents. She also loved to read, enjoyed music, was a talented artist, and wrote poetry. Marian Especially enjoyed traveling with her husband in their Winnebago camper to various Blue Grass music gatherings and festivals. Time spent with children and grandchildren was also especially important to Marian. She was a long-time member of Rock City United Methodist Church, and served on various committees within the church. Surviving are two daughters Vicki (Stephen) Spyrison of Freeport, Wendy (Daniel) Lawler of Dakota; six grandchildren Sarah Spyrison of Kentucky, Aaron Lawler, Michael (Whitney) Lawler both of Rock City, Benjamin and Tyler Spyrison of Freeport, Erica (Fiance Jesse Milks) of Dakota; one great grandson Koehn Lawler of Rock City; two sisters Grace Hale of Monroe, WI, Shirley Amodeo of Mississippi; three brothers Kenneth Bear of Freeport, Robert (Joyce) Bear of Michigan, Delbert Bear of Freeport; two brothers-in-law Kenneth Nott of Rock City, John Hendren of Freeport; two sisters-in-law Nettie Hendren of Freeport and Mildred Nott of Wisconsin.
Preceding her in death were her parents, husband Roy, three sisters Agnes in infancy, Margaret Butz, Pauline Schradermeier, three sisters-in-law, and five brothers-in-law.
Visitation will be Sunday December 27th from 2pm until 5pm at the Daughenbaugh Funeral Home in Dakota. Funeral service will be 10:30 am Monday at Daughenbaugh Funeral Home with the Reverend Brian LeBaron officiating. Burial will be in the Cedarville Cemetery.
A memorial fund has been established in her name for the Stephenson Nursing Center and the Alzheimer's Association.
