Marian D. Taber Hawley, age 94 of Freeport, IL, passed away at home on Friday, October 24, 2025. She was born August 31, 1931 in Pearl City, IL; the daughter of the late Orville and Blanche (Krise) Croffoot. She married Jack Taber on November 6, 1948; he passed on February 14, 2016. Marian has spent the last several years enjoying life with her fiancé, Edwin Hawley.

She worked at Sanitary Laundry for 16 years, Structo Toy Factory for 1 year, and for Micro Switch for 35 years. Marian was a member of Bethany United Church of Christ of Freeport and the Quarter Century Club at Micro Switch.

She enjoyed going to church, playing the organ, taking trips with Ed, and spending time with family & friends.

Marian is survived by her fiancé, Edwin Hawley of Freeport; foster daughter, Merlene Prachniak of Lewisville, TX; 2 foster grandchildren; and 5 foster great grandchildren; and many nieces & nephews. She is also survived by special family members, Andy (Leslie) Hawley, Mark (Terese) Hawley, 9 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jack; siblings, Merle Croffoot, Wayne Croffoot, Gerald "Judd" Croffoot, Thelma Entmeier, and Eileen Hubb; step-father; 3 sisters-in-law; and 2 brothers-in-law.

Marian's family would like to thank Ed and the Hawley family for making her a part of their family. They would also like to thank Pastor Leon & Wanda Ishmon, FHN Hospice, Vicki Buehler and Terese Hawley for all of their support and care.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 29, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Bethany UCC. There will be a visitation before the service beginning at 9:00 a.m. Interment will take place at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Freeport.
