Davis – Marie Ann (Brown) Horstmeier, 88, passed peacefully on Thursday, January 20, 2022 at home with family at her side.
She was born in rural Durand, Illinois on April 12, 1933 to Chancellor and Gladys (Davis) Brown. Attended Dobson grade school and graduated from Durand High School in 1951. She worked at Winnebago County Farm Bureau in Rockford, Il and Yates American in Beloit, WI.
Marie married Marvin Horstmeier on September 6, 1952 at Durand United Methodist Church. He passed away on December 27, 2012. They lived in Bossier City, LA for 15 months while Marvin was in the Air Force, returning to the Davis area to farm together for the next 60 years. Marie was a member of St. Paul Church, Past Matron of Davis Eastern Star #470, Capernaum White Shrine #4, Scottish Rite Valley of Freeport Women's Club, and Winnebago County Farm Bureau. She enjoyed playing cards with many relatives and friends.
She is survived by her sons Merle (Jamie) Horstmeier, Mark (Susan) Horstmeier, daughter Margo (Jeff) Turman all of Davis.
Grandchildren; Matthew Horstmeier, Michael (Jessica Grismore) Horstmeier, Ryan (Kelly) Thiel, Cari Kettleson, Holly (Stephen) Olson, Alex (Sarah) Turman and Eric (Jillian) Turman.
Great Grandchildren, Emily Grismore, Julianna Horstmeier, Cullen Thiel, Brody and Lexi Kettleson, Alessandra and Brennan Olson and Jordan Thompson.
Sister, Sharon McHenry, Valrico, FL; sisters-in-law Barb Horstmeier of Freeport; Sharon Boeger of Davis; Maryann (Larry) Stubbe of Dakota as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Preceding her in death are her parents, her husband, grandson, James and brothers-in-law, Roger Horstmeier, Garland McHenry and Gary Boeger.
The family would like to extend their sincere thanks and appreciation to the wonderful caregivers who allowed Marie to spend her final months in her home, and to the caring staff of Northern Illinois Hospice.
Funeral Services will be held at St. Paul Church of Epleyanna at 8800 E. Epleyanna Rd, Davis on Saturday January 29, 2022 with a visitation beginning at 10:00am and a service that will immediately follow at 11:00am. Pastor Scott Naevestad will be presiding.
A memorial has been established in her name for St. Paul Church, Northern Illinois Hospice and the Children's Dyslexia Centers – A Charity of Scottish Rite Freemasonry of Freeport. Burial will be in Davis Cemetery.
