Freeport: Marie C. MacKenzie, 95, died Tuesday July 6, 2004 at Freeport Rehabilitation and Health Care Center. Born January 13, 1909 in Freeport. She was the daughter of Royal J. and Anna (Propp) Bloom. On June16, 1928 she married Colin G. MacKenzie in Freeport. She graduated from Freeport High School class of 1926, was a member of Second Presbyterian Church and worked for Burgess Battery and Bergners and was a bookkeeper for several small businesses in the area for many years. Surviving are two sons, Donald (Estelle) MacKenzie of Albuquerque, NM and Grant (Helen) MacKenzie of Parma, Idaho, two daughters, Jo Anne (Quentin) Valkema of Freeport and Agatha Pudlas of Forreston, one brother, Henry "Bud" Bloom of Freeport, nine grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. Her parents, husband, two sisters and one daughter-in-law preceded her in death. Cremation rites were accorded. A memorial service will be held 11:00 am Friday at the Chapel of Peace in Oakland Cemetery and Mausoleum with the Reverend Janice Diefenthaler of Second Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial of her cremated remains will be in Oakland Cemetery and Mausoleum. There will be no visitation. A memorial has been established in her name.
