Freeport: Marilyn L. Grimes, 75, died Friday July 9, 2004 at FHN Lena Nursing Home.
Born April 20, 1929 in Freeport, she was the daughter of Charles and Vera (Dawson) Kurtz. On November 22, 1951 she married Roger Knobel he died in December of 1992 she then married Duain Grimes July 11, 1998 in Freeport and he died in May of 2001.
She was a graduate of Freeport High School and attended Bob Jones University in Greenville, S.C. She was a member of Park Hills Evangelical Free Church. She was a very active volunteer for her church and the community, volunteering at the hospital for 15 years, she was also a member of Freeport Christian Women's Club and Freeport Women's Club. She was a devoted Wife, Mother, and Grandmother and loved being with and helping her family and friends. Surviving are two daughters, Sharon (Douglas) Artman of Freeport, Judith (John) Dauphin of Mt Carroll, one sister Shirley Lundgren of Rockford, one brother, Lynn Kurtz of Freeport and seven grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands and one brother Richard Kurtz.
Funeral Service will be held 2:00 pm Tuesday at Park Hills Evangelical Free Church with the Reverend Ron Thiessen Officiating. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Garden.
