German Valley – Marilyn (Mert) A. Peck (Baal), age 82 of German Valley, IL passed away on Tuesday, October 18, 2022 at Provena St. Joseph Center Nursing Home, Freeport, IL.

She was born September 30, 1940 to George and Annetta (Borgman) Baal.  She graduated from Leaf River High School with the class of 1958.  Marilyn married Wayne H. Peck on July 10, 1960, and he passed away on December 21, 1995.

She was an avid bird watcher, enjoyed going out to eat and spending time with her family.  She also enjoyed watching the Chicago Bears.

She is survived by her son, Greg Peck and daughters, Wendy Shain, Melody (Tracey) Briggs, Stephanie Thomm, daughter-in-law Beverly Maavich.  Grandchildren, Nicole (Chris Feld Sr.) Shain, Penny (Gary Metz) Shain, Randy Shain, Ashley (Justin) Beard, Brittany Biehl, Brooke Biehl, Magnus Thomm, Kyle Maavich, Kirsten Maavich, Great grandchildren, Fennix Menefee, Rozlyn Feld, Christoper Feld Jr., Hendrix Feld, Matthew Beard, Kyle Beard, Gabriel Maavich, brother, George (Erma) Baal.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, infant daughter (Kelly Ann) Step-son Wayne Maavich; sister, Dorothy Stewart, brothers, Donald Baal and Dale Baal.

Cremation rites have been accorded.  There will be no visitation or funeral per Marilyn's request.
