Marilyn M. Wolfe, age 84 of Freeport, IL, passed away Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at Pearl Pavilion in Freeport. She was born July 10, 1932; the daughter of the late Emery and Viola (Ebert) Michael. She married LeRoy Wirtjes on July 23, 1949; he passed away in 1977. She later married Paul Wolfe on August 19, 1978.
Marilyn had worked as a file clerk for Krum and Forester Insurance. She attended the Baileyville Baptist Church. In the past, Marilyn and Paul enjoyed wintering in Florida together. She loved cats and enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading and playing the organ. Most of all she loved spending time with her family.
She is survived by her husband, Paul Wolfe of Freeport; son, David (Shirley) Wirtjes of Freeport; grandchildren, Brandon (Marsha) Wirtjes, Kathy (Joe) Leverton, Shannon (Bill) Tate, Jeremy (Agatha) Wirtjes, Ryan (Amanda) Wirtjes, Kevin Wirtjes, and Hannah (Richard) Hagedorn; 11 great grandchildren; and son-in-law, Gary Rehfeld of Freeport. She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, LeRoy; son, Duane Wirtjes; daughter, Debra Rehfeld; and brother, Richard Michael.
The funeral service will be held Wednesday, January 4th at 11:00 am at Walker Mortuary in Freeport with visitation beginning at 9:00 am. Interment will take place at Oakland Cemetery in Freeport. A memorial fund has been established in her name.
