Obituary

Marion R. Miley, 84 of Ridott, died Thursday, July 31 at FHN Memorial Hospital in Freeport. Born May 31, 1930 in rural Davis he was the son of Calvin and Marie (Salzman) Miley. Marion was a veteran of the United States Army serving in Guam, Alaska and Korea. He was a member of the American Legion Post #139. On December 31, 1955 he and Florice Boomgarden were united in marriage in Freeport. He farmed in the Ridott area for many years. Surviving are his wife of Ridott, two daughters, Janice (Keith) Swearengen, of Green City, MO, Linda Miley of Brookville; one son David Miley of Ridott; three grandchildren Megan (Bryan) Furnish, Kevin Swearengen both of Green City, MO, Andrew Miley of Ridott; two great grandchildren; half-sister Carole Dorsett of IA; half-brother James Miley of WI; numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents, five brothers, three sisters, half-brother, half-sister, half brother-in-law and daughter-in-law Patricia Miley. Visitation will be Monday from 10-11 a.m. at Daughenbaugh Funeral Home, Dakota. Funeral service will be 11a.m. Monday at Daughenbaugh Funeral Home with Reverend Ross Miley officiating. Burial will be at the Dakota Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established in his name.
