Marion S. "Sam" Wilson 87, of Lena died Saturday October 17, 2009 at the Lena Living Center in Lena . Born November 27, 1921 in Des Moines , IA , he was the son of Samuel and Mabel (Gould) Wilson. Sam was a WWII Veteran of the U.S. Navy serving in the R-Division on the USS California. He and Isabell Daughenbaugh were married March 18, 1943 at Freeport . He owned and operated Wilson 's Welding in Lena for more than 50 years. He was a member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Lena , Lena American Legion Post and was a former member of the Lena Golf Club. Sam and Isabell enjoyed dancing especially Polka Fests. He is survived by his wife Isabell of Lena; one daughter Dianne (Don) McNutt of Freeport; granddaughter Suzanne (Bill) Graff of Belvidere; two grandsons Don (Stephanie) McNutt of Littleton, Col., Jeff (Anne) McNutt of Peoria; 5 great grandchildren Ashley, Kyle and Troy Graff of Belvidere, Molly and Margot McNutt of Peoria. He is preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers and 2 sisters.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 9:30 am until 11:00 a.m. at the Chapel of Peace, Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens . Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Chapel Hill with the Rev. Roger Hurlbut of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church officiating. A memorial fund has been established in his name. Funeral arrangements were completed by Daughenbaugh Funeral in Dakota.
