Marjorie (Marge) L. Bamberg, 93, of Freeport passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by family on November 11, 2025. She was born on January 17, 1932, in Freeport, IL to the late Jerome and Marguerite (Nampel) Huenefeld. She married Jerry Bamberg on November 20, 1954, in Freeport, IL. He passed away on March 9, 2014.
Marge was a 1949 graduate of Dakota High School. She worked for many years in the J.C. Penny catalog department before she retired. Following retirement, she delivered newspapers for the Journal Standard with her husband Jerry for many years. She thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her family, taking care of her rose garden and many other plants and flowers. She loved cooking and baking, horses, and the Chicago Bulls. She was also a long-time member of Laurel Street Church of God. Marge will be remembered for her caring and loving nature.
She is survived by her children Larry (Allison) Bamberg of Cullman, AL; Jeff (Peggy) Bamberg of Poynette, WI; Steve (Chris) Bamberg of Freeport, IL; and Dean Bamberg of Madison, WI. Grandchildren Justin (Amanda) Bamberg, Alyssa (Joe) Peterson, Courtney Bamberg, Jordan (Heidi) Bamberg, Rebecca Kyle, Callan (Maygan) Bamberg, Aaron (Hannah) Bamberg, Jonathan (Allison) Bamberg, Meghan (John) Galbo, Grace (Derek) Wendt, and Cora Bamberg. Great grandchildren Elly, Evvy, Bailey, Grace, Alivia, Leehn, Max, Cooper, Briella, Kaleb, Elias, Samuel, Adam, Calley, Carson, Jackson, Jedidiah, Sawyer, Naomi, Lawson, Boone, Silas, Cade, Gwendolyn, Tate, Stetson, Rosalee, Lindy and another one on the way; and great-great grandchild Charlie.
She is preceded in death by her parents Jerome and Marguerite Huenefeld; husband Jerry Bamberg; daughter Sharon Bamberg; grandson Benji Stecklein; sisters Geraldine Asche, Francis Brinkmeier, June Matter; brothers Everett Huenefeld, Joe Huenefeld, Fritz Huenefeld, Robert Huenefeld, and Art Skeel.
There will be a visitation held on Friday, November 28, 2025, from 3 pm until 6 pm at the Laurel Street Church of God. Service to be held on Saturday, November 29, 2025, at 1 pm, also to be held at Laurel Street Church of God.
