Obituary

Marjorie M. (Lutz) Carpenter 92, died January 6, 2017 at home. She was born April 20, 1924 to Milton and Maud (Hall) Lutz in Lena, Il. She graduated from Winslow High School in 1942. She married Ray Carpenter on June 16, 1962 at First United Methodist Church Freeport, IL. He died September 14, 1983.

She was employed at Bankers Mutual Life Insurance and then became the church secretary at First United Methodist Church Freeport for many years until her full retirement. She was a 60+ year member of First United Methodist Freeport church and Eastern Star. She enjoyed crocheting and delivering Meals on Wheels. The United Methodist Women were a big part of her life.

Surviving are her sons, Norman Carpenter of Freeport and Don (Linda) Splinter of Cumming, GA as well as her Step Daughter Carolyn Nieman of Illinois.

Funeral services will be Sunday, January 8th, 2017 at Freeport First United Methodist Church beginning at 2pm with a 1 hr visitation prior to the service beginning at 1pm. There will be a private committal at Lena Burial Park later in the day. A memorial fund has been established for First United Methodist Church.
