Marjorie Marie Diehl, 93, of Freeport, died Sunday, July 20, 2014, at Parkview Home.
Born April 13, 1921 in Globe Hospital, Freeport she was the daughter of Arthur and Leona (Gassman) Klaas.
Marjorie grew up in Eleroy and attended the Eleroy Country School and Lena Community High School, graduating in 1939. She attended Illinois State University in Normal for one year and then worked at the following places during the War Years as a secretary at Crum & Forster Insurance Company and the United States Government Savanna Ordinance Depot.
She later went to Beauty School in Rockford, returning to Freeport to establish her Beauty Mode Salon.
She married Floyd Diehl October 14, 1990 and he preceded her in death.
She was a lifetime member of Salem Evangelical Church in Eleroy.
Surviving are her nieces, Susan Lahre of Bartlett and Nancy Pronto of Hoffman Estates; two great nephews, Andrew (Sarah) Pronto of Chicago and Douglas Pronto of Crystal Lake; one great great niece, Kennedy Pronto.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one sister and an infant brother.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, July 24, 2014 at Salem Evangelical Church in Eleroy.
Visitation will be Thursday 10 a.m. until time of service at the church.
A memorial has been established for Salem Evangelical Church.
