Obituary

Marjorie M. (Maurer) Dietmeier passed away on January 20, 2016 at her home following a short battle with cancer. She was born 6/20/1924, daughter of Frank W. and Lula M. Maurer. She grew up and went to school in Rock Grove.
Marjorie and Leland F. Dietmeier were married on 11/14/1942 in Rock Grove, they were married for 51 years raising 2 sons, Terry and Dennis.
Together they owned and operated Sunny Hill Cheese Co near Ridott from 1945-1958. Marjorie operated the grocery and cheese store. This was one of the very first convenience stores in the area.
After selling the cheese factory, she was a substitute mail carrier for many years before joining Newell Co for 15 years. She was the first female service person for Newell at the time. After retirement she put her love of knitting and crocheting to good use making hundreds of baby caps and booties for FHN and caps for veterans. In her early years she enjoyed fishing and traveling. She loved to dance, often attending dances at Turner Hall well in to her 80's. She also enjoyed playing Euchre and doing puzzles. Her many other hobbies included making cakes, including wedding cakes, beadwork, upholstery, ceramics, sewing, knitting and crocheting. Marjorie enjoyed spending time with family especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Leland passed in 1994.
Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, son Terry, infant daughter, infant grandson, and her sister, (Viola Held).
Surviving are her son Dennis (Pat) of Ridott, her daughter-in-law, Mary Dietmeier of Rockford her grandchildren Mark (Sue) of Rockford, Michael (Heather) Freeport and Jennifer (Rick Schreiber) of Ridott, Abby (Jake) Mielke of Freeport, Erin of Elgin, and 3 great grandchildren Nicholas and Katie of Rockford, and Drake Merriman of Freeport and many nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to FHN Hospice , Peggy and Rose who cared for Marjorie in her last weeks. The family also hopes that the next time you have a glass of wine or a beer, to remember her fondly and the joy and laughter she brought to family and friends.
As per Marjorie's wishes there will be no visitation or funeral service. A private family graveside service will be held at a later date.

A memorial has been established in her name for the FHN Hospice.
