Marjorie M. Ortgiesen, Freeport, age 95, died December 15, 2014 at Presence St. Joseph Center, Freeport, IL. She was born April 13, l919, in Chicago, IL. She was the daughter of Fred H. and Hazel (Weil) Marienthal. She married Donald H. Walker on June 13, 1943, who passed away July 13, 1952. She then married William F. Ortgiesen on July 23, 1960. He passed away February 9, 1981.
Marge was employed at Bergners for 13 years. She was a member of the Sterling and Freeport V.F.W. Auxiliaries, the Sterling Past Presidents Club, the Freeport Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, Retired Senior Volunteer Program, and Cancer Survivors. She was a volunteer for the Red Cross and Freeport Memorial Hospital. She enjoyed making greeting cards, reading and helping other people.
Surviving are son, Wayne R. (Kay) Walker of Freeport; daughters, Barbara A. (Kenneth) Atz of Rockford, and Susan Dicks of Winnebago; six grandchildren; ten great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, one grandson and both husbands.
Her body was donated to the Chicago Institute of Medical Science.
There will be no services per her request.
A memorial for the Freeport Senior Center has been established by the family.
