Freeport-Marjorie H. Schmidt, 82, of Freeport, died Wednesday, September 22, 2004, at the Stephenson Nursing Center after an extended illness.
Born June 7, 1922 in Jo Daviess County she was the daughter of Ernest and Amanda (Winter) Koehn. She married William J. Schmidt January 3, 1943 and he died November 11, 1983.
She worked for Burgess Battery for 27 years and then for a cleaning service until she was 80 years old.
She was a member of Embury United Methodist Church.
Marjorie enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, family, and friends.
Surviving is one daughter, Patty L. Schmidt; one son, David W. (Kathy) Schmidt both of Freeport; 5 grandchildren, John (Dawn) Wean of Crystal Lake. James (Angie) Wean of Freeport, Cory, Matthew, and Carley Schmidt all of Freeport; 1 great granddaughter, Addie Wean of Lena.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one daughter, Joyce; 1 brother, Cletus; 1 great granddaughter, Erin.
Cremation rites have been accorded.
Private family only services will be held.
There will be a gathering of family and friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday in the Centennial Lounge at Embury United Methodist Church.
Internment of her cremated remains will be in the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers memorials have been established for Embury United Methodist Church and Freeport Memorial Hospital Hospice.
