Marjorie Ann Wilkens, age 79 of Freeport, IL, passed away at home surrounded by her loved ones on Friday March 6, 2026. She was born December 23, 1946 in Freeport; the daughter of the late Clement and Marie (Grunder) Meinert. Marjorie married Eugene Wilkens on April 20, 1991 at the Baileyville Baptist Church in Baileyville, IL.
She was a hard worker, working for a total of 63 years at Structo, Micro-Switch/Honeywell, Stephenson Street Station, Round-Up, and Highland Community College. Marjorie was a member of ABATE of IL, the Freeport Chapter. She enjoyed motorcycles and traveling, especially with her grandchildren. She loved people and her fur babies.
She is survived by her husband, Eugene Wilkens; daughter, Dawn (Rick) Miller; step-son, Scott (Amanda) Bons; daughter-in-law, Sue Kuhlemeier; grandchildren, Amy (Vaughn) Piske, Danielle (Matt) Crowford, Nick (Jessica) Miller, Heidi (Chris) Homan, Vernon (Mya) Kuhlemeier III, Ryan (Rakasha) Kuhlemeier, and Ian Bons; great grandchildren, Boston, Liam, Lilly, Cameron, Braelyn, Brinley, Aleah, Santino, Owen, Isabella, Chance, and Hunter; brothers, Gary (Dianne) Meinert and Steve (Marsha) Meinert.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clement Meinert and Marie Johnson; step-father, Elmer Johnson; son, Vernon Kuhlemeier, Jr.; step-brother, Gary Johnson; and great granddaughter, Penelope Kuhlemeier.
Marjorie’s family would like to give a special thanks to SSM Health Hospital and hospice; St. Joeseph Citadel; nurses, Kelly, Jody, Hillary and Wendy; and Dr. John Dube and Dr. Michael Muise.
A visitation will be held on Friday, March 13, 2026 from 9:00 to 10:45 a.m. at St. Paul Church of Epleyanna in Davis, IL. The funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. A memorial fund has been established for SSM Health Hospice and Friends Forever Humane Society.
