Mark A. 'Opa' Rust, 65 of Seward, formally of Forreston, passed away Tuesday, October 26, 2021 at FHN.
Mark was born June 16, 1956 in Freeport to Bob and Edith Rust. He married Rosie Page on October 25, 1985. He was employed as the Public Works Supervisor position for the Village of Forreston, and he previously held the Supervisor position of Public Works for the Village of Pecatonica as well as Groenwold Fur and Wool.
Mark was an avid hunter, IL DNR Certified Hunter Safety Instructor, USA Master Archery Certified Instructor Trainer & JOAD Certified Educator, IL 4H Archery Instructor, Boy Scout of America Archery Instructor, a member of the Christian Bow Hunters and continued to help facilitate the Indian Trail Archers Club for many years. Lifelong member of Silver Creek Reformed Church in German Valley, having served as an Elder. He enjoyed watching his 'little buddy' play sports and was an avid MN Vikings fan.
Mark is survived by his wife, Rosie; son Mike (Candace Wells, Blake and Alexa); grandchildren Hayden Rust and Jayde Rust; former daughter-in-law, Stacy Rust; his parents, sister and brother; and many cherished family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his in-laws, Henry and Hazel Page; a special brother-in-law, Allen Fissell; niece, Shelly Fissell; his grandparents; along with others he cared deeply for.
Mark's zeal for life and passion to help others will be sorely missed. All who knew Mark, loved him.
Services will be held at Silver Creek Reformed Church, German Valley; officiated by Pastor Nora Johnson. Visitation will be at 1030 am to 12 pm, with the Funeral to follow on Wednesday, November 3, 2021. Private burial will be at Chapel Hill, Freeport.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in his name for several charities.
