Obituary

Red Oak – Marlene Marie (Weick/Foulker) Barker, 81, of Red Oak passed away peacefully at home with her husband by her side. She was born on Christmas Day 1943 to the late Marvin and Margaret (Leiby) Weick but was raised by her kind and loving stepfather, Herman Gerber and her mother.  She graduated in 1961 from Orangeville High School and retired from Micro Switch Honeywell in 2008.  She married LaVerne David Barker on June 20, 1992.

Marlene was known for the many baked goods she generously made for family and friends.  She was the recipient of the "Betty Crocker Award" in her senior year of high school.

During her lifetime she was a 5-year Den Mother for Cub Scouts and a 2-year Den Leader/Coach; a Sunday School Teacher for 15 years at Red Oak United Methodist Church; an assistant teacher for Confirmation Classes for 1 year at Red Oak UMC; Served in many offices/Committees at Red Oak UMC.  She was very creative and developed an art for Duct Tape projects including making billfolds, purses, backpacks, etc. and taught this to second graders at the Pearl City Park District.  Marlene was a "Grandma Extraordinaire", spending many loving hours investing in the lives of her grandchildren.

She is survived by her sons, Steven R. (Julie) Foulker of CA; Timothy A. (Lisa Lemminger) Foulker of Freeport and Donald (Holly) Foulker of Pearl City.  Her sister, Marcene (Bob) Meeks of Freeport.

Her grandchildren are Brandon Vesel, Kelsy Foulker, Kenzie Foulker, Sydney Foulker and Blane Foulker.  Her great grandchild is Beckham Williams.

Her stepchildren include Kimberly (Fred) Ethridge of Orangeville, Pamela (Jeff Thesing) Socia of Holmen, Wisconsin, and Tamela (Skip) Scepanski of Lacrosse, Wisconsin.

Her step grandchildren are Jamie (Jen) Ethridge, Chad (Sandy) Ethridge, Leo Socia, Amanda (Shane) Harter, Mark (Hannah) Marsh.  Her step Great Grandchildren are Mason Ethridge, MacKenzie Ethridge, Emmy Ethridge, Isaiah Harter, Evelyn Socia and Damian Marsh.

Also, there are several nieces and nephews; Marcette (Henry) Happ, Michelle (Brian) Brightman, and Michael (Lori) Meeks. Grand Nieces include Meghan Bonczkowski, Lindsay (Ethan) Pollard, Jordan Happ, Emma Brightman.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Step Father Herman O. Gerber and niece Kathy Meeks.

There will be a service at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens on Saturday, June 21, 2025 at 12pm.  In lieu of flowers a memorial has been designated in her name for FHN Hospice. Her final resting place will be next to her parents at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
