Marlene M. Bishop, age 83 of Freeport, IL, passed away on Saturday, February 1, 2020 at Presence St. Joseph in Freeport. She was born October 18, 1936; the daughter of Alton G. and Ethel D. (Penticoff) Cox. She married Garris E. Phillips on December 14, 1958; he passed in August of 1963. She later married Wayne Bishop on August 3, 1974. She enjoyed soap operas, listening to Elvis and doing jig saw puzzles. Most of all she loved her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, Wayne Bishop of Freeport; daughter, Debra (Jonathan) Green of Freeprot; grandchildren, Barry Green, Stacie Green, and Jared Green; great grandchild Gabi Mordick; sister, Janice (Harry) Stoehr Campbell of Freeport; niece, Darci (Tim) Miller; nephew, Dean (Lisa) Stoehr; great niece, Amanda Stoehr; and lifelong friend, Louise Thomas of Delaware as well as several nieces and nephews on the Phillips side of the family. She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Garris Phillips; and grandmother; Grace Penticoff. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, February 9th at 3:00 p.m. with a visitation beginning at 1:00 p.m. at Walker Mortuary in Freeport. A memorial fund has been established in her name.
