Freeport – Martha "Dolly"  Fissell, age 84, went home to be with the Lord on December 27, 2020. She was born on December 16, 1936 to the late Martin and Elizabeth (Schmidt) Midthun. She attended Freeport High School.  She then worked for the Northwestern Telephone Company.  She married Kenneth E. Fissell on December 1, 1956.  He passed away in January of 1993.

She was an avid Bulls fan. She also loved going to Krape Park on a daily basis to take in the sites of the park. Martha loved her family, but her two great grandsons stole her heart.

She is survived by her son, David (Marge) Fissell of Freeport; grandson Charles (Stephanie) Fissell of Freeport; granddaughter, Mollie (Eddie) Smith of Forreston;   2 great grandsons Eli and Rowan Fissell of Freeport; Grandson Jonny Fissell of KY;   Her sister-in-law, Carol (Midthun) Coy of Arizona.  She also has many dear nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband and 1 son, Allen Fissell and one granddaughter, Shelly Fissell.  There were also 8 siblings that preceded her in death.

Private services will be held. A memorial has been established in her name.
