Freeport-Martha Anna Klinger, 89, of Freeport, died Sunday, December 31, 2006, at her home.
Born October 27, 1917 in Ridott she was the daughter of August and Wilhelmina (Brinkmeier) Meier. She married Ben H. Klinger October 19, 1938 in Ridott and he died April 19, 1991 in Freeport.
Martha attended Cedarville Emmanuel Evangelical Congregational Church. She was an active member of Zion Ladies Aid and for many years was the care taker for Silver Springs Cemetery Association.
She loved her garden, quilting, sewing and most of all spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Surviving are two daughters, Dorothy (Virgil) Kriens and Barbara (Thomas) Suess; one son, Gerald B. Klinger all of Freeport; two grandchildren, Mike (Audrey) Kriens of Elgin and Craig (Ann) Kriens of Freeport; three step-grandchildren, Neil E. (Sonya) Suess of Pecatonica, Brian (Jill) Suess of Cedarville, and Wendy (Tim) Bray of Rockford; four great grandchildren, Allison Kriens and Adam Kriens both of Freeport, Cortney Kriens of Elgin, and Gecia; three step great grandchildren, Neil T. Suess of Pecatonica, Jessica Suess of Freeport, and Lacey Bray of Rockford; two sister in-laws, Ruby Meier of Ridott and Fannie Lursen of Freeport; numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one infant daughter; one infant son; four sisters; and one brother.
Funeral service will be Wednesday 11 a.m. at Cedarville Emmanuel Evangelical Congregational Church with Reverend Jack Ward officiating. Burial will be in the Silver Springs Cemetery.
Visitation will be Tuesday 4 to 7 p.m. at Walker Mortuary.
In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in her name.
