Martin L. Staska, 76, of Freeport, died, Sunday, April 10, 2011 at FHN Memorial Hospital
Born June 15, 1934 in Chicago he was the son of Rudolph and Esther (Konow) Staska. He married Julia Mackall September 26, 1953.
Martin was a Navy veteran of the Korean War.
Martin was a Sheet metal Worker at Burbank, Illinois with Reliant Heating for many years. He then worked 10 years for the Park Hills Golf course in Freeport.
He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church.
Martin was known as a Jack of all trades who had a heart of gold and was willing to help everyone.
Surviving is his wife, Julia of Freeport; 1 son, Guy (Lisa) Staska of Valparaiso, Indiana; 2 grandchildren, Josh Staska of German Valley and Evan Staska of Valparaiso, Indiana; and his daughter in-law, Linda Staska.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 son, Tod Staska.
Funeral service will be Saturday, April 16, 2011, 10:30 a.m., at Immanuel Lutheran Church with Reverend Dr. Willis Schwichtenberg officiating. Burial will be in the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Walker Mortuary.
In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in his name.
