Obituary

Marvin G. Daughenbaugh, of Freeport, passed away at Ascension St. Joe's Home of Freeport on September 29, 2022.  He was born on January 21, 1933, the only child of Marvin E. and Louise (Mahle) Daughenbaugh.  He was a Freeport High School graduate class of 1952.  Marv then went on to graduate from the University of Dubuque in 1956, with a degree in Economics and Psychology.  In 1954, he married his high school sweetheart, Esther Toepfer. They celebrated their 68 th anniversary this year in June.

Marv worked 22 years at Micro Switch- Honeywell in a variety of administrative positions.  After leaving Micro, he joined the local Ford-Lincoln Mercury dealership as a sales representative for the next 18 years, retiring in 1995.  Marv and Esther loved to fish and travel.  Vacations usually meant a trip to Northern Wisconsin, Minnesota or Canada.  After retiring, they enjoyed the winter months in Florida.  Times spent with family and good friends were also greatly enjoyed.  Marv was a former member of the United Presbyterian Church of Freeport.

Marvin is survived by his wife, Esther; two sons, David of Freeport and Jeff of Lodi, WI; two sisters-in-law, Lois Jessup of Longmont, CO and Jackie Chamberlain of Loves Park, IL as well as many nieces and nephews.

There will be a visitation Tuesday, October 4 th , 2022 at 10:30am and a service at 11am all at the chapel at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Freeport, Illinois.  Condolences can be left for the family at www.walkermortuary.com .
